GSM PLATFORM 2000/PLATFORM Release R1.1 Release Notes ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ FULL BUILD GSM SAPPHIRE RELEASE LABEL : SAP4_G_01.04.08R BASELINE BUILD LABEL : SAP4AS_G_01.04.07R INTEGRATION PHASE : R1.1 BUILD ENGINEER : Anthony Veckey ( aav034 ) BUILD DATE : December 22, 2001 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ RELEASE LOCATION ================ URL : http://compass.mot.com/go/wsdswrel/internal/p2k/gsm/01/SAP4/SAP4_G_01.04.08R ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ PHONE FILE FILENAME : SAP4_G_01.04.08R.elf FILE SIZE : 48956832 CHECK SUM : 3875870980 Hardware : GSM SAPPHIRE ROM : GROM 3.0 DSP versions: DSP RAM IMAGE : 3024 DSP GROM2 PATCH : 3700 DSP GROM3 PATCH : 3417 BOOTLOADER : BOOT-CGT_C_3.5.5_R_P2K_SIERRA_BOOT GSM_STACK_baseline : sangam_vAF.7F.AF SEEM MAP version : 9.1.0.0C IMEISV version : 53 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ RELEASE DESCRIPTION =================== Important Notes: ================ (1). The following 3 steps need to be executed in the specified order to load SW into the phone: Step_1: Flash the default superfile. This default superfile is located under /flashing directory. Step_2: Flex the phone with required flex file. For details see the "FLEXING" section below. Step_3: Flash the Language only superfile, which is located under /flash/languages directory. No further flexing needed. (2). Language only superfile will be supported for release 0F.18.21 and beyond. . This kind of super files are located at the release area under /flash/languages directory. A) Language only superfile requires PST tool version 2.8.7.4.1 or greater. NOTE: ---- Please read and follow PST version 2.8.7.4.1 release note for installation and operation, which is located at: http://compass.mot.com/go/94972874 B) The super file "gsm_flash.shx"(SAP4_G_01.04.08R_flash.shx), located in the /flash/full directory, contains phone image with US English Only (language Bundle 0001). To change language from default language (US English) to another, please proceed to step C. C) To change to another language bundle from default language bundle (US English only), flash the language only superfile for the desired bundle. The language only superfiles are located under /flash/languages directory. NOTE: ---- For a definition of the language bundles by region, see chart located on Compass at: http://compass.mot.com/doc/94925729/Power_Point_Language_bundle_Summary.ppt D) Going forward from 0F.18.21, you can repeat step C at any point if you wish to change the language bundle on the phone. Step B does not need to be repeated as long as the new language bundle is from the software release that exists on the phone. (You cannot upgrade just the language -- the release has to match). (3). If you have a blank phone, please refer to the following direction: "Instruction_to_flash_a_blank_phone" Location: /usr/global/releases/internal/platform2000/GSM/GSM_BOOTLOADER_FLASH then following the step (1) above. (4). When testing GPRS, a New GPRS Manager software (StarFish GPRS Manager software Version 3.0.21 or above) is required for the build version 0F.16.D0I and greater. Because there is a change that went into the builds (version 0F.16.D0I and greater) for ATI command responses, this change requires the StarFish GPRS Manager software Version 3.0.21 or above. This only affects the GPRS Manager from auto-detecting the P2K phone. (5). Just a tip, if you are using compass, right click on file and select properties -- it will show you the full name including the language bundle (0004=T1,0005=T2,000A=T3,000B=T4,000E=T7,000F=T8,0010=T9). (6). As most of you know, WSD CM has decided to use Compass to store all future software releases. GSM Integration will begin releasing software to Compass in addition to the UNIX software release area. In the near future, GSM Integration will release ONLY TO COMPASS. Program management is coordinating the effort to provide access to authorized individuals. Information on this initiative is available at: http://compass.mot.com/go/relhelp Known Issues and Notes: ----------------------- Please read the sanity test report for details in the /info directory : SAP4_G_01.04.08R_sanity_test_report.htm SAP4_G_01.04.08R_sanity_test_report.doc ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ FLASHING SUPER FILES ==================== !!!Please read the "Important Note" above before flashing your phone. From the version 0E6 and above Battery Threshold settings are removed. If you want to flex battery threshold for 90i and later build, you need to flex Battery Threshold (SEEM 48) using flex delta located at : http://gsm-web.pcs.mot.com/p2k_releases/flex/GSM/battery_threshold/ This is a one time process as long as you don't use old flexes (Older than 0E6) to reset this value. If you are using an older flex (older than 0E6) and SW later than 90I, you need to flex the Battery Threshold after your customer flex. 4. Build Instructions for all sites: Add the rule(s) in step 1). above first, then: ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ A). To reproduce the current build from source code: 1) Set the config spec to: element * SAP4_G_01.04.08R 2) Then issue the following build commands: (To build from source code and link all of the GSM phone components) #for IL93 sites cd /vobs/platform2000_build/code acmake PRODUCT=gsm_sapphire_asia ASIAN_BLD=1 ITAP_LIBRARIES=1 LNG_PKG_OBJ=gsm_lang0015.o BLDSRC=1 OFFICIAL_VERSION=1 gsm_phone B). To reproduce the the current build from release VOBs: 1) Set the config spec to: element * SAP4_G_01.04.08R 2) Then issue the following build commands: #for IL93 sites cd /vobs/platform2000_build/code #for other sites cd /vobs/platform2000/code acmake PRODUCT=gsm_sapphire_asia ASIAN_BLD=1 ITAP_LIBRARIES=1 LNG_PKG_OBJ=gsm_lang0015.o OFFICIAL_VERSION=1 product_config gsm.elf C). To perform a build for the ROM emulator: 1) Set the config spec to: element * SAP4_G_01.04.08R 2) Then issue the following build commands: Example 1: Romulator version of a new build. All components are rebuilt, but only certain files in HAPI and SEEM are affected by the ROMU_BLD=1 option. acmake PRODUCT=gsm_sapphire_asia ASIAN_BLD=1 ITAP_LIBRARIES=1 LNG_PKG_OBJ=gsm_lang0015.o BLDSRC=1 OFFICIAL_VERSION=1 ROMU_BLD=1 gsm_phone To do a romulator build, you must use the ROMU_BLD=1 command line option, rebuild HAPI and SEEM, and relink. No additional branches are required. Example 2: Romulator version of a released build. This will only rebuild hapi and seem and perform the link. For the other components, the checked in release library is used. Note that BLDSRC=1 is not used. acmake PRODUCT=gsm_sapphire_asia ASIAN_BLD=1 ITAP_LIBRARIES=1 LNG_PKG_OBJ=gsm_lang0015.o OFFICIAL_VERSION=1 ROMU_BLD=1 hapi seem gsm.elf Example 3: Romulator build in a populated view. In this example, a full flash build has already been created. Now to just create a romulator version, only rebuild HAPI, SEEM, and relink. acmake PRODUCT=gsm_sapphire_asia ASIAN_BLD=1 ITAP_LIBRARIES=1 LNG_PKG_OBJ=gsm_lang0015.o BLDSRC=1 OFFICIAL_VERSION=1 ROMU_BLD=1 hapi seem gsm.elf D). To run a partial build based on this release (mostly for external sites) 1) Set the config.spec to: element * CHECKEDOUT # Add your changes here # Baseline label element * SAP4_G_01.04.08R 2) Refer to the location below for more details on how to perform partial build http://gsm-web.pcs.mot.com/p2k_releases/GSM/doc/build_from_release_vob E). RAM Phone Build: Until further advice the platform/product builds will support BROWSER and not include DSP image any more, and only be used on GROM phone. If you want to a build for RAM phone, which requires a build with DSP image and without BROWSER. To generate a build with a DSP image, and without BROWSER, add the option DSP_IMG=1, and BROWSER=0 in the 'acmake' command line. 1). Set the config spec as you need. Example: element * SAP4_G_01.04.08R 2). Perform the build similar as above: Example: a) If you are building from source code, use the following command line acmake PRODUCT=gsm_sapphire_asia ASIAN_BLD=1 ITAP_LIBRARIES=1 LNG_PKG_OBJ=gsm_lang0015.o BLDSRC=1 OFFICIAL_VERSION=1 BROWSER=0 DSP_IMG=1 gsm_phone b) If you are performing a partial build, use the following command line acmake PRODUCT=gsm_sapphire_asia ASIAN_BLD=1 ITAP_LIBRARIES=1 LNG_PKG_OBJ=gsm_lang0015.o OFFICIAL_VERSION=1 BROWSER=0 DSP_IMG=1 [ ....] product_config gsm.elf ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ FLASH SUPER FILE (.shx) GENERATION: =================================== The .shx file generation is dependent on the language package.
